"True solitude is a din of birdsong, seething leaves, whirling colors, or a clamor of tracks in the snow."
                              Edward Hoagland

Exterior of cabin

The cabin

The cabin looks like it sprouted out of the forest that surrounds it.

Write

Here, you'll find a color USB printer that connects to a PC or Mac, a wireless DSL router that you can connect to via Wi-Fi or a cable, a bookshelf stereo, and a cordless phone with an answering machine.

Cook and eat

You'll find everything you need to prepare and enjoy simple meals, including a gas stove and oven; a refrigerator; a microwave oven; and small appliances, including a coffee maker, coffee grinder, and toaster.

Relax and read

In the comfortable recliner, you can consult your references, review what you've written, assume a more comfortable position with your laptop, or just take a break and read.

Build a fire

Although the cabin is electrically heated, some prefer the heat and ambiance that a woodstove offers. (We provide firewood.)

Sleep

A full-sized bed with down pillows and a down comforter welcome you after a hard day's work. Of course, some people do their best writing in bed.

Take a hot shower

Take a shower in the 3/4 bath (see the shower in the mirror there?), and rest in the knowledge that you'll never run out of hot water.

Go outside

The screened porch increases the cabin's floor space by a third. On warm days, it's an inspiring place to write. (We can lend you a portable picnic table and a camping cot, should you choose to eat and sleep there too.)

Floor plan

This remodel of an existing cabin packs everything you need into a 15.5- by 15.5-foot space.
